Die australische Autorin Anna Funder sagte über die Lebensgeschichte ihrer alten Freundin Ruth Blatt, geb. Koplowitz, Folgendes: „She always saw herself as a wo-man of the new century, making all her own decisions about politics (…), about sex (…) and about religion. As a left-winged jewish woman in the Germany of the first half of the 20th century those decisions could have cost her her life.“
